Good Day Members,
Pardon our constant communications. As the Congress draws closer, it becomes of critical important that Members know what their statuses are, and if not in order, what to do to rectify, and if not rectified, what the implications are.
The above is the heat map of Membership Compliance ultimately showing whether Members are in Good Standing or not.
Article 20.1 of our Constitution states that:
A Quorum of the Congress shall be 50% plus 1 of the Members who are in good standing, where representation of the member is counted once regardless of the number of delegates present, and where either the Chairperson or any of the Vice-Chairpersons is present to chair the Congress.
The above means two things, these are:
- We cannot have the Congress is Members are NOT in Good Standing; and
- If two Members are in Good Standing and are both present, plus the presence of Chairperson or any of the Vice-Chairpersons, then the Congress will continue. This means two Members will make decisions for 28 other Members, an extremely uncomfortable and unorthodox options.
Article 22.1 of our Constitution states that:
Unless otherwise stipulated in this Constitution, a simple majority of the accredited Members in good standing who are entitled to vote is sufficient for a vote to be valid. The number of valid votes counted shall decide the majority. Abstentions are disregarded in calculating the majority.
The above means for all amendments, motions, proposals or elections of office bearers that need to be voted on, only Members in Good Standing shall be entitled to do so.
Article 26.3 of our Constitution states that:
Any Member in good standing shall be entitled to submit nominations for the position of Chairperson, Vice-Chairpersons, Secretary, Vice-Secretary, Treasurer, Head of Football, Head of Referees, Head of Coaches, and the Associate Members Representative for election to the Executive Committee.
The means whilst a Member is not in Good Standing, such a Members is not eligible to submit a nomination.
Members, you need to assist us in avoiding any of the above-mentioned scenarios. As the Congress draws closers, it becomes dangerously and highly probable for the Congress to fail. This will affect the speed within which we can kick off, affecting the momentum of football in Pheli in general.
What needs to be done?
All what needs to be done is provided in this article: http://plfa.org.za/2020/01/06/getting-to-be-in-good-standing-for-the-congress/.
Should there be any douby, Members are required to seek assistance from the Executive Committee by urgently writing to info@plfa.org.za
Trusting that this message will be taken seriously and acted upon in the interest of our football.
Best Regards (also send via Email)
