Tshwane Inter-LFA Super League Play-Offs

SAFA Tshwane will be conducting the Regional Super League Inter-LFA Play-Offs from the 21st to the 21st to the 29th of August 2021 at Muckleneuck in Mamelodi. The winners and runners up will acquire the SAB League status. One of our own, Jacaranda Callies Football Club will be representing PLFA at the play-offs. They have won our domestic Super League title. Good luck to them.

At the venue, only a limited number of SAFA Tshwane officials and the clubs concerned will be allowed entry in order to observe the strict COVID-19 protocol, particularly in terms of the number of people allowed at the venue. So PLFA will not have representative Officials at the venue, unless there is a last minute invite. However, we will try to have at least one official attending in order to shoot live video (facebook or YouTube) for the benefit of those who will not attend.

We must say however as PLFA we still await the implementation of the cluster based Regional League. This is a layer of cluster leagues between the LFAs and the region, run by the region, to where the winners of the Super Leagues from all LFAs will automatically gain entry. There would be four clusters covering neighboring LFAs. Each cluster has four LFAs, and will have a minimum of 12 teams and a maximum of 16 teams. Super League winners from each LFA will be automatically promoted to the Region League within their cluster. Teams from the regional leagues who get relegated will be relegated to the respective LFAs. Winners of each cluster (4) are promoted directly into the SAB League, and the last 4 in the SAB League get relegated to the regional league to their respective cluster. Like this, there will never be a need for the Play-Offs within the region, and yet there will be increased competition without diluting the value of the SAB League status. We will end up with so much quality at the SAB League level, increasing the chances of success in competing for a spot at the ABC Motsepe League each year. This outcome would be apparent within three seasons.

The above model was already approved in 2019. We understand that there was a task team appointed to investigate the modalities for the implementation. We have not yet received a report. We will push for the report and eventually for the implementation of this model for the betterment of football in our region. This is marked as the region of talent.

Jacaranda is the biggest club in Phelindaba. As a result, on the 21st of August whilst they will be playing their first match at the Play-offs against TK Stars FC at 15h00, they will also be hosting East Rand Athletic FC at Mbolekwa Ground as part of their Gauteng Development League participation. But we know they have enough technical staff to handle the fixtures.

We wish Jacaranda Callies well for these Play-Offs, and we urge each Member of the association to give them support.
