The weekend of the 18th of May 2019 was a busy one for most of the PLFA EXCO members, well, also for some Junior Football Players as well.
Earlier this week we announced that our Vice-Chairperson, Kelebogile Lefhiedi would be doing duty as a Match Commissioner in Durban for a high profile match between Kaizer Chiefs and TS Galaxy in a Nedbank Cup Final. Well, it happened. The match went on smoothly.

We obviously know that although as PLFA we support the Tshwane outfits, like Supersport United and Sundowns (9 times PSL Champions), there is a lot of support for Kaizer Chiefs among us. Noting that Chiefs went down to an NFD team at a cup final, also noting what is dubbed to be a dismal performance of the high profile club in the PSL this year, its loss to TS Galaxy will not go down well with Chiefs supporters. So, Sorry.
What we are happy about is that one of our very own has done well. Well done Vice Chair, we are proud of you.
Our Chairperson, Sizwe Nkosi also went to represent SAFA Tshwane as the Electoral Officer at West End Local Football Association (WELFA). WELFA held its Quadrennial Ordinary Congress at the Pretoria West Community Hall (Transoranje Road) on the 18th of May 2019. A new committee was elected successfully. WELFA can only grown from strength to strength going forward. The newly elected committee was as follows:
- Chairperson: Mathews Nkosi;
- Vice-Chairperson: Anna Mathe;
- Vice-Chairperson: Isaac Sekgalakane;
- Vice-Chairperson: Elsie Ngobeni;
- General Secretary: William Ramahotsoa;
- Treasurer: Brian Mahlangu;
- Additional Member: Titus Maake;
- Additional Member: Lassy Mashele; and
- Additional Member: Vincent Sasepola.
Well done to them, and well done to WELFA as a whole.
And then there is a City of Tshwane Mayoral Cup competition which is hosted by SAFA Tshwane, where all SAFA Tshwane affiliates participated. The EXCO delegation was led by Acting Head of Coaches Sipho Sithole (who is also the Treasurer), and coordinated Secretary Zakhele Ntuli, and flanked by Vice Chairperson Setumo Kgotyane, and Head of Referees Bushy Makgopa.
PLFA participated with Under 11, Under 13, and Under 15 squads at Laudium grounds against Olivenboschhout, Laudium and Central Pretoria. Under 11 and Under 13 won all their matches and qualify for the knock out stages. Under 15 won two matches and lost one against Pretoria Central. Pretoria Central proceeds to the knockout stages.
A full report on the City of Tshwane Mayoral Cup will be provided after today’s games that involve the Under 17 and Ladies teams at the same venue.
