In the 18th of August 2018, PLFA held an Extra-ordinary Congress primarily to elect the additional members at of the Executive Committee. The meant that the incumbents who have been acting on those roles stepped down in order to make way for the new incumbents.
The contested position was that of the Head of Football. The incumbent was Zakhele Ntuli. He is being replaced by Jabu Masilela. The voting was so tight that Jabu one by one vote, where he got 14 votes against Zakhele’s 13 votes. Jabu has recently rejoined the association with his club, Shinning Stars. He is currently also a member of the Commercial and Marketing Committee which is planning for a Gala Event that will be held on the 27th of October 2018. We wish him well in his new role and we assure him of the support going forward.
Zakhele declined a nomination from the floor for the position of Head of Referees. He also had already declined this nomination through the preceding nomination process. He refusal to access the nomination meant that Zakhele will no longer be a member of the Executive Committee. We know him to be a hard worker, and puts a lot of passion in his work. We loose a lot by losing him. We wish him well on his new path outside the committee.
The new Head of Referees is now Bushy Makgopa. He was nominated from the floor after nominations of the position for Sbusiso Zwane and Samson Mabunda were declined in the preceding nomination process. Also, Zakhele declined a nomination from the floor. Bushy reluctantly accepted after being persuaded by the members. We trust and believe that he will find his untested talents in thew new role, and he will be driven through passion to deliver value for the association for the longest time. We welcome him to the Executive Committee and wish him well on his new path.
Mpho Motala cruised back to his position of Head of Coaches this position was uncontested. Also nominated to the position were Ezekiel Notoane, David Notoane, and Akhona Hlitani. Mpho was the incumbent in the position and returns. We wish him well and trust that he comes with the renewed energy.
Similarly, Johanes Matloga comes back to his role of Associate Member Representative. Nonhlanhla Mabusela was also nominated but declined on full understanding that Johannes’ mandate is still on. We wish Johannes well and that he returned with renewed energy.
